World’s oldest Rolls-Royce sold for £3.5m
December 5th, 2007 by eddyra on WorldThe oldest Rolls-Royce in the world was sold for a record £3.5 million at auction in London. An anonymous British bidder won the auction by telephone bid, paying twice the estimate for the car. The car was initially estimated at around £1 million but frenzied bidding left the value at £3,521,500, the highest ever paid for a car in the veteran class.

The 10bhp Rolls-Royce which is in perfect working order was built in 1905 and was the fourth car to be built by the Charles Rolls/Henry Royce partnership. Only three other 10-horsepower Rolls-Royces are known to survive.
The previous record for a veteran car was the 1.76 million pounds paid for an 1884 De Dion Bouton, while that for a Rolls-Royce was the 1.48 million pounds paid for a 1912 Silver Ghost Double Pullman Limousine.
Woww.. a 10 horsepower motor for £3.5 million. I wonder how many 2007 cars will be running and still looking presentable in 2110. Hopefully our grandchild or future generation can see first Proton Saga in 2110 with good running condition.. perghh.
