How private is your private life?
September 18th, 2007 by eddyra on LifeTechnology is making the world smaller, you can make a video call from your cell phone using 3G service. You also can make the same thing from your PC to anywhere in the world using clients such as YM or Skype. But at the same time you can be tracked by your ISP provider, where you from etc. Now, everytime you lie to your partner about your location, then your’re in trouble because your location can often be tracked and pinpointed in real time if your cell phone is turned on.
If you are using credit or debit card, your movements throughout the day can be tracked based on what and where you purchase. The financial institution knows your habbits, online spending, what type of beer you like or the worst case they will know if you purchase sex materials from website. Even it does not itemize exactly what items were purchased, we can’t say that information can’t be passed along. Huhuhu..
Your ISP can track the web pages you visit, so do your office IT group. They will know either you surfed pornographic site or not. Thousands of people have been fired for putting their work computers to “personal” use by surfing porn. Usually they’re caught because somebody has installed software like WebSense, a popular workplace monitoring package that keeps logs of where they try to go..
What else..
Can’t get a loan? Or Maybe blacklisted. Credit reference agencies have all your personal data including your bad debt history.
Do you have your own hosted blog? Yes, then people around the world may know your real name, address and phone. Believe it, people can whois us. Do you know that when you put something down in writing on your blog, even as a joke, the police or other authorities may decide it is no joke and take action against you? What you do online can come back to bite you later. Your “private thoughts” are no longer private after you post them. Agree or not. Huhu.. again.
So, how private is your private life?
