November Rain

October 10th, 2007 by eddyra on Entertainment

Losing someone you love because she died or losing someone you lose because she does not want to be with you. I don’t know which is worse. And when someone prefers not to be with you, there is nothing you can do with it.

Have you ever heard the Guns n’ Roses song “November Rain”. It was a very popular song when it came out in 1990-1991. I remember the first time that I heard this song was somewhere in 1993, at that time I didn’t quite understand English but I could feel every single word. There were no music video like MTV in Malaysia during that time, so I cant imagine how good the video clip was.

In 1995 I furthered my studies in UK and one day I watched MTV on Sky. The scene was an awesome guitarist solo in front of the church. I didnt know that it was November Rain until at the end of the video, it kinda surprised me a little and I remembered that it was a very popular song a couple of years before.

It’s nothing special but I still remember it, so i guess that was the real beginning of the this story. So I went to the record store and I looked for the Guns N’ Roses VCD with November Rain on it. I played it almost everyday. Wherever I am in the world, every time I hear this song, it really brings back my memory of living with friends in Newcastle Upon Tyne.

It’s a sad song but it gives me strength and confidence to keep on trying for all the girls we love and the girls we are loved by. Huhuhu…

I would argue November Rain is the best music video clip ever made, but that’s just my opinion. A great song with deep lyrics and meaning and the video clip is just as good and totally engaging. This video clip won for best cinematography at the 1992 MTV Video Music Awards, where it also received a Video Vanguard award. Do you know, this video clip is one of the ten most expensive music video, with investment $1,500,000+.

This song is about how difficult is to keep a relationship when there are many obstacles to be faced, but too say that if you´re in love dont restrained yourself and both together can find the way to happiness, even the unique thing that destroys that happiness is death. Thats so true when you´re thinking of sharing your life with another person. Live for the moment, spend each day with your loved ones as though they are your last and never hold back. Pehhh…

“So never mind the darkness we still can find a way”

The video clip starts out with Axl Rose waking from a nightmare, then we see a huge opera house with a crowd watching Guns n’ Roses perform on-stage. Then goes into wedding scene model Stephanie Seymour in a church.

After Axl kisses Stephanie, Slash does solo in the desert. I love this part. Back to the wedding scene, which is going good until it begins raining, and everyone dives for cover. At the end of this scene, red wine runs down a white table cloth.
Axl on the piano, and Slash steps up onto the piano and the scene cuts to Stephanie in the casket, unmarked and undamaged but very dead. Axl is in tears as his bride is in a casket.

At the end of the video, there is a credit saying the video clip is based on the short story “Without You” by Del James. The problem here is, “Without You” is a short story in a collection called “The Language of Fear.” This book was published in 1995, but the publisher went out of business, and only a few hundred copies of the book were made.
Anyway, the video leaves the question of how she died, and therein lies the mystery.

November Rain

When I look into your eyes
I can see a love restrained
But darlin’ when I hold you
Don’t you know I feel the same

‘Cause nothin’ lasts forever
And we both know hearts can change
And it’s hard to hold a candle
In the cold November rain

We’ve been through this such a long long time
Just tryin’ to kill the pain

But lovers always come and lovers always go
An no one’s really sure who’s lettin’ go today
Walking away

If we could take the time
to lay it on the line
I could rest my head
Just knowin’ that you were mine
All mine
So if you want to love me
then darlin’ don’t refrain
Or I’ll just end up walkin’
In the cold November rain

Do you need some time…on your own
Do you need some time…all alone
Everybody needs some time… on their own
Don’t you know you need some time…all alone

I know it’s hard to keep an open heart
When even friends seem out to harm you
But if you could heal a broken heart
Wouldn’t time be out to charm you

Sometimes I need some time…on my own
Sometimes I need some time…all alone
Everybody needs some time… on their own
Don’t you know you need some time…all alone

And when your fears subside
And shadows still remain
I know that you can love me
When there’s no one left to blame
So never mind the darkness
We still can find a way
‘Cause nothin’ lasts forever
Even cold November rain

Don’t ya think that you need somebody
Don’t ya think that you need someone
Everybody needs somebody
You’re not the only one
You’re not the only one.

ya waliz we grown up almost at the same time. The music from ‘when we were young’ often has special power and meaning for us. For me, that’s not just my teen years, but also my early twenties until late twenties. I always thought people got stuck on the music they listened to in their college years, regardless they understand or not what the singer said.. huhuhu.

I also like def lepard, some songs of Metalicca, Bon Jovi and most of them are jiwang song, but not lembik jiwang like many of malay song.. i am sorry i am not that lembik jiwang type. Anyway November Rain still my favourite song.
